Low-Voltage Rough-In
Ethernet Cat6 or Cat6A for computers, TVs, access points, and hardwired devices
Low-voltage rough-in is the first stage of wiring for your home or business, completed during construction or renovation before insulation and drywall. This is when we run and label the cables that support your technology so everything is ready for a clean install later. A well-planned rough-in saves time, avoids costly rework, and creates a future-ready foundation for reliable internet, Wi-Fi, security, and entertainment.
What’s included
Ethernet Cat6 or Cat6A for computers, TVs, access points, and hardwired devices
Wi-Fi access point cabling for strong, consistent coverage
Security camera wiring and NVR locations
Smart home wiring for hubs, touch panels, sensors, and doorbells
A/V pre-wire for TV locations, soundbars, speakers, and home theater
VoIP and communications wiring when needed
How the process works
Plan the layout by reviewing floor plans and identifying device locations, coverage goals, and future needs
Run the cable through walls and ceilings to each drop location and back to a central wiring point
Label and document each cable for easier installation and troubleshooting later
Prepare for finish by leaving proper slack, protecting cable ends, and staging for trim-out after drywall
Why it matters
Cleaner installs with fewer visible wires
Faster, more stable connections than Wi-Fi alone
Stronger Wi-Fi coverage when access points are placed and wired correctly
Easy future upgrades without opening walls
Fewer connectivity issues and easier troubleshooting
When to schedule it
Low-voltage rough-in should be scheduled after framing and before insulation and drywall. The earlier it’s included in the build plan, the smoother the install and finish work will be.
